Kim Becking, the firm’s Founder, President and CEO,  brings over sixteen years of in-depth experience from the public, private and non-profit sectors in the areas of public affairs and advocacy, public involvement, strategic communications and public relations, strategic planning, and community relations.  She has extensive experience working on statewide issues throughout the State of Missouri.

Kim started Momentum Public Strategies ten years ago and is currently serving as President.  Momentum currently relocated their offices to Columbia, Missouri after having their corporate headquarters in Kansas City for over nine years.Kim has a wide range of experience that strengthens Momentum Public Strategies.  She is an attorney, has served as legislative aide to a Missouri State Representative, Director of Community Affairs for former Mayor of Kansas City and Current Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II and Senior Policy Advisor for a Kansas City Missouri City Councilman.  Kim has worked at all levels of government and has held key top-level positions with local and state elected officials.

Kim’s work in the Kansas City, Missouri Mayor, City Council and Planning and Development Departments have provided her with broad-based experience in community outreach and strategic communications.  She has provided public involvement and strategic communications expertise to many major development, public infrastructure and transportation projects in the Greater Kansas City area including Kansas City Riverfront Development, Line Creek Valley Development Plan, Gladstone Comprehensive Plan, Red Bridge Road Alternatives Analysis, Greater Downtown Area Plan, Sprint Center, Tiffany Springs Parkway Realignment Study, Greater Downtown Area Plan, Gladstone Comprehensive Plan, Regional Transit Alliance and MoDOT’s award-winning kcICON project to replace the Paseo Bridge.

In addition, through Momentum’s successful statewide community outreach, communications and advocacy services, Kim has developed relationships with key stakeholders across the state of Missouri.  Her firm has worked on a variety of successful ballot initiatives, coalitions and public affairs initiatives across the state.

Kim also brings expertise in strategic communications, public relations and crisis communications.  She has developed strategic communications plans; organized dozens of press conferences, including drafting press releases and preparing press kits; pitched stories and successfully placed dozens of articles and stories throughout the state.  Kim also has served as the press spokesperson for various elected officials and organizations and provided media training to a variety of clients.

Kim’s grassroots and grasstops advocacy and public affairs experience is extensive.  She has been instrumental in creating public affairs and advocacy initiatives for a variety of organizations and issues.  She has worked extensively with non-profit, business, and associations on public policy and grassroots advocacy issues.  Some of the organizations that Kim has worked with on building coalitions and grassroots advocacy efforts include the Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving Cures, Missourians for a Balanced Energy Future, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Pfizer, American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Cancer Society, the Polycystic Kidney Foundation and the Regional Transit Alliance.
